Sorrento’s is located at the depot in Concord, around a two-minute walk from the Dunkin’ Donuts nearby; it may be more time-efficient to just grab something real quick from Dunkin’ instead, but if you’ve got the time, you’ve just got to go to Sorrento’s. I give the location a 4.2 stars out of 5.
With warm lighting and a typically very warm interior, it’s a nice place to stop by in the winter, but you might want to make sure you’re wearing the season-appropriate clothing in the warmer months. There is a TV above the fridges that plays the news or whatever interesting sports game is currently going on, like the World Cup this past December. Whether you’re seated at the booths or the main table, you’ll get a clear view of their wood-fired ovens, giving you a glimpse of the pizzas baking. The restaurant itself is a bit cramped, especially when it’s busy. There isn’t much space for lines, and the seating is pretty limited. If you are going to Sorrento’s on a busier day, you’re most likely going to have to grab your order and go, because chances are there won’t be any seating available. I give the atmosphere 3.5 stars.
The employees might not seem too content with the hordes of teenagers that pour into their pizza shop on the daily, but they aren’t unpleasant in any way; it’s just rare that you’ll catch a smile on their face. So if that doesn’t bother you, there shouldn’t be any problems. The wait for food can vary anywhere from two to fifteen minutes (more if it’s a busy day), so it’s not a place you’d go if you’re in a hurry, but it is far better than the wait times you’ll experience at New London. It’d be a nightmare to wait in a decently-sized line at New London’s, so I give the attitude and efficiency of Sorrento’s 3.8 stars.
Sorrento’s menu contains many different items such as subs, calzones, pasta plates, and, of course, pizza. The three most commonly ordered pizzas are cheese, pepperoni, and, my favorite, buffalo chicken. They all taste very good and are definitely worth it: I give Sorrento’s 4.6 stars for their food.
As for their pricing, a slice of cheese from Sorrento’s costs you $5.00, while their pepperoni and buffalo cost $6.00 each. Compared to New London in Concord, with their smaller but thicker slices of pizza with cheese priced at $2.75, pepperoni at $3.00, and buffalo at $3.75, I’d say Sorrento’s pizza is worth spending the extra dollar or two for their subjectively better pizza. I give Sorrento’s 4.1 stars for their prices.
If you’ve got some time to kill, a few friends, and want some decent pizza, Sorrento’s might just be the place for you. Overall, I give Sorrento’s 4.0 out of 5 stars. If you haven’t been yet, go as soon as you can.
