If you’re craving delicious grab and go flaky, buttery French pastries, I recommend taking a visit to Nouve Bakery in Lexington, Massachusetts. Their menu consists of croissants and other pastries, such as breads or tarts that will surely have you coming back for a second visit. They are a grab and go style bakery, which sells treats based off of what is sold in France with some even having an Asian influence to them. Their most popular items are the ham and cheese croissant, plain croissant, and their matcha pain suisse, which is a croissant filled with a matcha cream. Right when you walk into the cafe, you will notice the small cozy aesthetic it entails. There is an opening to the kitchen section which gives you an insight on how the various pastries are made. You can see the bakers placing the pastries on the trays, prepping them for baking or taking them hot straight out of the oven, allowing you to see the care and work which goes into making each item.
Nouve Bakery opened in February 2024, making it a more recent establishment. It has proven to be popular since the beginning of its opening, with some of its pastries often selling out in the morning. There is a window which looks into the bakery from the sidewalk, giving the customers an insight on what is being sold or what has run out. It is an efficient way of grabbing the customers’ attention, like mine was when I had first sought out a bite to eat in Lexington Center and stumbled upon this bakery.

You are guaranteed a fresh pastry whether you are ordering a traditional croissant, a tart, or bread, since the flours, butters and other components are often imported from France. This gives you a true high-quality pastry, which can be hard to find. One of their sweeter options which is popular is the chocolate croissants that contain decadent dark chocolate; this is one of my favorites. However, if you are looking for a more savory bite, I recommend their ham and cheese croissant which contains forest ham, mozzarella cheese, and swiss cheese coated in a bechamel sauce. If you are more interested in their other pastries, which are not croissants, they have numerous golden brown, flakey berry tarts as well. They sell honey buns, toasts, and breads such as the baguette, shokupan, which is a Japanese milk bread, or red wine farmer’s loaves. Besides the delicious food items they sell, they also sell various teas, matcha, and coffee drinks such as iced lattes or espresso based drinks. Their menu has many best selling options for you to choose from.

Nouve Bakery will give you a taste into French culture with its fresh ingredients and unique pastries. If you are driving around Lexington and looking for a bite to eat, I highly recommend stopping by and taking a visit.
