Fritz & Gigi, a children’s boutique that has stood on Main Street in downtown Concord since 1938, continues to expand its reach while providing customers with high-quality clothing for infants and children. Many visitors wonder: How has a small boutique remained successful for nearly a century while continuing to attract new customers?

The answer lies in Fritz & Gigi’s strong family history and longstanding commitment to quality. More than just a retail store, the boutique carries a rich legacy connected to Louisa Kussin, a relative of Little Women author Louisa May Alcott who once owned the shop. During that time, the store served as both a shopping destination and a gathering place where meaningful relationships formed between staff and customers. Today, those same values remain central to the business.
In 2016, a new family took ownership of the shop and has continued to uphold its core values. Current owner Tina Napoli recalls, “When the original family put an email out [letting customers know the business would be for sale], [it felt right as] I loved fashion and had started a family of my own. I loved finding new and different brands. I love shopping! Boutiques are great and I have always enjoyed seeing how people curate.”

For Napoli, owning a small business is about more than fashion, it is about building relationships and becoming part of the community. She highlights the importance of “being part of the community and getting to know families and watching their children/grandchildren grow.” The sense of community surrounding Fritz & Gigi extends far beyond the boutique’s walls, though. According to the store’s website, a customer played a role in a life-changing decision for Tina and her family in 2017. After learning about the possibility of adopting a child from Ethiopia through one of her customers, Tina and her family were able to pursue something that had long been on their hearts. As the website explains, “Something that was on their hearts for some time, was made a reality with the assistance of Tina’s customer.” Their daughter Hazel was later welcomed home to Concord, demonstrating how the relationships formed through Fritz & Gigi often grow into something much deeper than those between a business owner and customer.
Located in the heart of Concord, Fritz & Gigi attracts both loyal customers and first-time visitors, particularly during the busy holiday season. What truly sets the boutique apart is its carefully curated selection of hand-picked clothing, much of which cannot be found in larger retail chains. Fritz & Gigi carries both beloved favorites, such as Jellycat, and distinctive European brands, including Petit Bateau.
For parents who prioritize comfort and quality, the boutique offers a variety of organic clothing options as well as innovative products like magnetic footies that make changing infants easier. The shop also includes a play area to keep young children entertained while adults browse. Whether customers are searching for a traditional onesie or a special outfit for a memorable occasion, Fritz & Gigi’s wide selection helps make every purchase feel unique.

As Fritz & Gigi approaches its centennial anniversary, it remains a warm, welcoming, and distinctive part of Concord. The boutique represents more than simple transactions—it reflects a commitment to quality, community, and tradition. For generations of local families, Fritz & Gigi has been a place where childhood memories begin, and its legacy continues to grow with each new customer who walks through the door.
