Welcome to View from the Top! This is a new column where we are spotlighting different seniors to hear about their “view from the top.” (If you are a senior interested in being featured, contact any of our club’s members or our faculty advisor Mrs. Ray, or email [email protected].)
In this issue, we’re featuring CCHS senior Harrison Wei!
“CCHS has introduced me to a whole world of possibilities regarding what I can pursue post high-school, especially [in] the arts department as a whole,” remarks CCHS senior Harrison Wei.
Over the past four years, Wei has been heavily involved with CCHS Theatre and Improv Club. In addition to pursuing the performing arts in his extracurricular activities, he has taken on many “phenomenal” elective courses such as Financial Literacy, 3D Graphics, and Theatre Performance. Wei recommends that students, especially those striving towards a career that “falls outside of a typical academic standard,” should “[finish their] credits for graduation and [pursue] the elective classes at CC” which can push them towards success in their desired career path.
As a result of his busy schedule, Wei lacked free time after-school for working out in the Fitness Center. He suggests that the Fitness Center be open throughout the day, or at least during lunch blocks, so that students can get in a workout during their free blocks.
Wei also suggests that students get plenty of sleep, warning that if they don’t, they’ll “literally remain short forever.” He most enjoyed Ms. Wozniak’s Economics class during his junior year in which he not only learned “how Economics works on a micro and macro scale” but also some major life lessons that he will no doubt carry with him “after [he leaves] CCHS and beyond.” Wei would also like to give a shoutout to Melissa Charych for showing him the “magic of theatre [he] never knew was there.”
After CCHS, Wei plans to further enrich his experience in the performing arts by attending Syracuse University for a BFA in Acting where he hopes to “fine-tune [his] acting ability.” He wishes to become an actor on Broadway, and once he has “finished [his] time in the spotlight,” Wei plans to go back to school and learn the art of education so that he can coach and inspire the next generation of actors.
We commend Wei for his achievements at CCHS and wish him all the best for his undoubtedly bright future! We are so excited to see you on Broadway someday!
